My Website

More About Me: I am a mum and an entrepreneur, and between a very active little boy and two horsey businesses, I keep pretty busy. I co-own a training and horse sales business, Heartwood Horses, where we use a variety of classical and progressive methods to put a solid foundation on our horses. My other business is a partnership with my sister - Super Natural Horses. I am a passionate natural horsemanship information collector and like to keep an open mind, using an mix of different philosophies and changing things up when I learn new ideas. We focus on buying horses with great functional conformation and fantastic temperaments, which consequently means that we end up with everything from ponies to warmbloods to Tennessee Walking Horses to Andalusian crosses. I am looking forward to getting to know people in the natural horsemanship world and exchanging stories, challenges and wisdom. Please feel free to write me a note!

A sweet trick for bridling

Does your horse eagerly accept the bit when being bridled? If not, here's a great trick - keep a squirt bottle of molasses in the tack room or arena, and put a little on the bit before you bridle your horse. It's a great way to make bridling a.... Read more

Oh no worries about the website. I didn't take it as such. I appreciate you looking at it.

I decided today as I was walking out through our ring to the back field that I was going to start playing with my guys on slower things either riding or groundwork. Like having my horses come towards me sideways, long lining, work on getting them in tune with me for more liberty work. I'm tired of not being able to play. In fact, I need to see about still doing lessons and working with my students on those things. I need the money...it is so slow right now:(

Some of my young students want me to do a spring break weekend camp but I have to find out when everyone has break. I will be away the beginning and end of March so I'm hoping it's not then.

In August I will be hosting another Parelli clinic with Kelly Sigler. It will be her second time here. I'm looking forward to it. She will be going over level 3 things.

I did start my young gelding this past spring all by myself and am proud of myself that I did it pretty much by myself. I do have a friend who helps train, but just talked me through things. It's an awesome feeling!

Stay warm!

Wynne

Hi Celena,

I'm doing as well as can be expected with the weather being in the 20's! The ring is frozen, along with the fields. I have one heater in one of my tubes, and the horses are sucking up the water, which is good. I am itching to ride and play with my horses and also keep my lessons going.

I updated my website about a month ago, but not much going on right now. I'll take another look at it, and post some of our upcoming clinics in 2011. Thanks for taking a look at it.

How are you doing? How is the weather over there?

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome :)
I love how this site is all about the natural way!
Although most of the people on here are based in America, It's still nice to talk to people. I'll have to find a site like this in Australia :)

If you know of anyone, anywhere looking for a student to work for them and learn let me know.

I'm looking for someone to study under and further my knowledge so I can become a trainer.

You have some really nice horses :)

Thanks for the bulletin board tip. So, when I post a reply to something someone writes on my board, they don't see it unless I put it on their board or unless they check back on mine? Is that right?

Well at tomorrow's playday we are going to go over the 7 games for those that don't know, then I have a young lady that will do a demo at lunch to see if any folks want to sign up with her for an adult camp weekend here. I like to give the little folks a try. When you find a good one, I like to show them off. She has awesome energy, has a great eye and is a great rider.

Hi Celena, I've got some local clinicians coming in. A wonderful woman from NY who does Parelli but isn't an instructor, another young girl who has done Parelli, Suzanne Sheppard, Amy Brimhall, but I am trying to get a 3* Parelli instructor in the late summer. First playday is this weekend!

Hi Celena, I've had my business now for I think 10 years. My folks have owned the property for over 30, but my husband, daughter and I came back to help out and I started taking over the barn, then the lessons program. I never stop learning, and want to take what I learn and share. We have play days at the barn once a month during the warm weather, and this year I am bringing in a few local clinicians to do more structured play days and adult camps. Really looking forward to it.
